Gate Valves

Gate Valves are characterized by a sliding disc or gate which is moved by the actuator perpendicular to the direction of flow. There are many variations in seat, stem and bonnet design in gate valves. They are available in a wide assortment of sizes and weights.

Gate Valves are used primarily as stop valves, i.e., fully open or fully closed. They are not normally considered for throttling purpose. They are suited for high pressure and high temperature use with a wide variety of fluids. They are not usually used for the slurries, viscous fluids etc.

Gate Valves usually have a low pressure drop when fully open, provide a tight seal when fully closed, and are relatively free of contamination build up. Gate Valves are prone to vibration when in a partially open state and are also subject to seat and disc wear. Some large size gate valves are not recommended for steam services. Gate Valves have slow response characteristics and require large actuating forces.

Globe Valves

Globe Valve are all characterized by a closer member, usually in discor plug form, which is moved by the actuator perpendicular to a ring shaped seat. The flow passes from the inlet port through these at to outlet port. The types differ mainly in th e orientation of the seat to the direction of flow through the valve.

Globe Valves are used primarily for throttling purpose. They are widely used along with Gate Valve in power and process piping system. Globe Valves may be considered a general purpose flow control valves.

Globe Valves are generally faster to open and close then the Gate Valves . Their seating surface are less subject to wear and tear. High pressure drop makes them useful in controlling pressure.

Their high pressure drop may be undesirable in many piping system. In large size they require considerable power to operate, thus necessitating gearing, lever etc. Globe Valves are often heavier then other valves of same flow rating.

Steam Glove Valves

Steam Valves are all characterized by a closer member, usually in disc or plug form, which is moved by the actuator perpendicular to a ring shaped seat. The flow passes from the inlet port through the seat to outlet port. The types differ mainly in the orientation of the seat to the direction of flow through the valve. There are many variations in seat, stem and bonnet design in Steam Valve. All the working parts are generally of stainless steel to avoid wear and tear.

Steam Valves are used primarily for steam purpose. They are used where pressure condition are severe and hence are heavier than most of the other type of valves. Steam valve can control flow and provide tight seal when fully closed. Steam valves are faster to open or close. Due to stainless steel working parts, there seating surface are less subject to wear and their high pressure drop makes them useful in controlling pressure.Due to heavy structure, such valves are costlier than other valves. In large size they require considerable power to operate, thus necessitating gearing, levers etc.

Steam Check Valves

Permit flow in one direction only and stops flow automatically when the flow is reversed. They are entirely automatic in action, depending upon pressure and velocity of flow with inline to perform the function of opening and closing. Horizontal lift Check Valves are suitable for Horizontal pipe line and cap to be on the top. Fluid flows through a horizontal bride wall on which disc is seated. Vertical check valves are suitable on vertical pipeline allowing only unidirectional flow upward.
